There’s more to a fine building than the finishing, but let’s not pretend that it doesn’t matter. Doors that close properly, door furniture, skirting boards and architrave all fitted with care. Good carpenters know that these things matter and go out of their way to make sure that the finishing of a property is to the highest standard.
Spiral staircases may not always be the most practical of things but they can make a lovely feature. This staircase supplied by Cottage Craft Spirals is built from ash, wenge and cast aluminium. It was supplied to me in kit form and once assembled and fitted became a centre point in this refurbished flat.
This photograph shows a set of ash stairs with two sets of winders, no newel caps were provided so these were made on site.
